When the ExcelTips newsletter was first published in 1998, the computing world was quite a bit different than it is today. Computers were much less powerful and the Internet was just coming into wide use. During the eleven years since its debut, the newsletter has grown to over 45,600 subscribers, with hundreds of new subscribers joining each week.

Another thing that has changed over the years is the growth of the ExcelTips website (excel.tips.net). This week the site surpassed the amazing milestone of 2,000 free articles about how to better use Microsoft's popular spreadsheet program. Tips run the gamut from simple configuration hints, to how to use worksheet functions, all the way to becoming more productive with macros.

"The continued growth of ExcelTips is both phenomenal and gratifying," said publisher Allen Wyatt. "We publish several professional newsletters, but the ExcelTips newsletter has, by far, the widest interest and distribution." With subscribers from all corners of the globe, ExcelTips reaches a very wide audience, indeed.

Even though the ExcelTips newsletter has been published for over a decade, the ExcelTips website has only been in operation since 2005. In the four years since its inception, the site has become the best resource on the Web for Excel information. Wyatt notes that the site routinely receives over 10,000 visitors each day. "During a regular month there are over 400,000 articles read by our visitors."

Wyatt's efforts to provide helpful, timely information about using Excel were recognized in 2007 when he was awarded "Most Valuable Professional" status by Microsoft.
Information published on the ExcelTips website covers many versions of Excel, from Excel 97 through Excel 2007, the latest incarnation of the program. In early 2008 Sharon Parq Associates, the parent company for Tips.Net, also launched a companion site that focuses solely on Excel 2007 (excel2007.tips.net).

Wyatt notes that while reaching the 2,000-article milestone is significant, it is not the ultimate for the ExcelTips site. "Every time we think that we've run out of things to provide tips about, someone writes with a problem or question that allows us to highlight yet another area of the program." With each passing week new articles are added to the site, strengthening ExcelTips' position as the leader in solid Excel information.

ExcelTips is published weekly by Sharon Parq Associates (SPA) , a publisher of high-quality information on the Internet. Their flagship site, Tips.Net, provides a gateway to many other sites besides ExcelTips, each focused on providing helpful, timely information in a variety of topic areas. SPA offers several weekly newsletters besides ExcelTips including WordTips, Cleaning Tips, Home Improvement Tips, Organizing Tips, Cooking Tips, and Gardening Tips.
